Slovakia - National program

L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program was launched in Slovakia in 2016. The program cooperates with the Slovak Commission of UNESCO, the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Slovak Organization for Research and Development activities (SOVVA). L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science, Slovakia – talent program, each year, declare the criteria for the given year and publish the current application at www.forwomeninscience.com. Women scholars who meet the criteria will register on the platform and upload the required documents. The winners will then be selected online evaluation only by the jurors, composed of scientific experts and led by prof. RNDr. Ľubica Lacinová, DrSc. Three female scientists will be chosen from them as winners. The three selected female scientists will share the amount of money allocated for that year. In 2026 the award will be 21 000 Eur and split among three women scientists. Scientists can use the amount freely for direct or indirect career development. On top of the financial support, the winners have access to media coverage that will help them build their network and inspire young girls to choose a scientific career.
