Canada - 2026 Call for Applications

The L'Oréal Canada For Women in Science Young Talents fellowships, with the support of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, aim to highlight the role of women in searching for scientific solutions to the challenges facing humanity in the 21st century. This program provides support for major research projects led by Canadian female researchers at the postdoctoral level. Number of endowments:

  • 5 annual endowments

 

Amount per endowment:

  • 2 x $20,000 CAD for postdoc with Canadian Commission for UNESCO
  • 1 x $10,000 CAD for postdoc with Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)
  • 2 x $5,000 CAD for doc with France Canada Research Fund (FCRF)

Requirements:

  • Must be female Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Candidates for this fellowship program must conduct their research at a Canadian host institution/organization.
  • Life & Physical Sciences Fields research eligible.
  • No Age Limit.

Main eligibility criteria:

  • Academic performance
  • Research proposal: successfully demonstrates how the theoretical and practical knowledge or training acquired at the host institution/organization would be beneficial to the candidate’s on-going research project; describes the overall research plan, including methodology, and the significance, novelty and potential impact of the research; respects the maximum 2 pages in length
  • Research project: is well-planned and demonstrates innovation, imagination and relevance; considers scientific solutions to problems confronting humankind in the 21st century; promises to contribute to knowledge in the candidate’s field of research and has the potential to promote Canadian science in Canada and internationally; Research summary is written in clear plain language and is no longer than one half-page
  • Willing to participate in at least 2 events in support of L’Oréal Canada Girls in science mentoring program (e.g., mentoring, classroom visits, media events, etc.) during their award tenure
  • Community service: Extra-curricular activities or volunteer experience that demonstrate a commitment to supporting girls and/or women in science.
