Vietnam - 2026 Call for application

The L’Oréal – UNESCO For Women in Science National Program was launched in Vietnam in 2009. Over the past 17 years, the program has honored 41 talented young Vietnamese female scientists for their outstanding contributions in two research fields: Life Sciences and Material Sciences. This initiative has enabled them to continue pursuing their passion for science and advance further in their scientific careers, contributing to bridging the gender gap in science.

Launched in Vietnam in 2009, the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science National Program has, over the past 17 years, honored 41 talented young Vietnamese women scientists for their exceptional contributions in two key research fields: Life Sciences and Material Sciences. This initiative empowers them to continue pursuing their passion for science, advancing further in their scientific research careers, and helps bridge the gender gap in the scientific community. The national scholarships are awarded to female PhD candidates whose research projects in Life Sciences and Material Sciences are contemporary, innovative, and highly applicable.

Main eligibility criteria
  • Female scientific researchers no older than 45 years by the application deadline.
  • Holding a Ph.D. or currently undertaking Post-Doctoral research.
  • Possessing a research proposal in either Life Sciences or Material Sciences.
  • Currently initiating or in the process of conducting their research project.
  • Proven record in science research (publication, articles on international/ regional well-known journals….)
Selection criteria

The Jury Board will convene to select three candidates from the shortlist based on criteria such as modernity, creativity, and applicability of the proposal, effective solutions for global issues, significant contributions to the foundation of future scientific research, clarity and comprehensibility of scientific language, systematic presentation, and each candidate’s scientific achievements.

Information document(s)

  1. Register and submit all the required documents.
  2. Send your application to [email protected] by 18:00 on September 30, 2026. 
  3. Required documents when sending emails:  
  • Application form (in English or Vietnamese): Application Form
  • Scanned copy of the Ph.D. degree or relevant qualifications 
  • Two recommendation letters from leading scientists in the research field, or scientists who have collaborated in scientific research (in English or Vietnamese)  
  • Summary of the research proposal (in English and Vietnamese) including key contents: overall description, project idea, objectives, implementation methods, expected results, and budget plan (specifying which activities the fellowship will fund (*)) 
  • List of articles published in international scientific journals and leading national journals 
  • List of publications (if any) 
  • Certificates of international, regional, and national scientific achievements (if any) 

All documents must be scanned from the originals and submitted via email to the program
